The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill the following positions in its Management Information Systems Department (MISD):

- Two posts of Senior Analyst Programmer, Applications Development and Maintenance Section, MISD
Job Summary
The planning, supervision and administration of the work of the Applications Development and Maintenance Section or the Payments IT Support Services Unit as assigned.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include:
- Planning, organising, monitoring, and administering the work of the Applications Development and Maintenance Section to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity of all computerised operations in the Bank
- Coordinating and overseeing the entire development life cycle of all Central Bank’s core business functions and internal business applications to ensure that all user requirements are met. In addition, ensuring that efficiency and productivity are paramount objectives in the development process
- Sourcing, evaluating, and conducting the feasibility and percentage fit studies for the acquisition of software packages
- Establishing and monitoring the compliance of standards set by the global IT environment to ensuring that the Bank adheres to best practices
- Providing technical support for computerised systems to reduce application downtime
- Coordinating and overseeing the training of staff in the use of new systems to ensure a minimum learning curve
- Ensuring the continuous efficient functioning of all business applications to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity
- Ensuring Business Continuity plans are in place for business-critical applications to allow for seamless transition in the event of disaster
- Conducting research and evaluation of new information technology systems to ensure that the Bank is in the best technological position as is considered possible and feasible
- Spearheading the implementation of new technologies to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity
- Overseeing the maintenance of the Bank’s websites to ensure they are kept current
- Representing the Bank and department at meetings, conferences etc. both internally and externally dealing with all matters relating to business software
- Ensuring purchases, contracts, and licensing of all business software is done in accordance with the standards of the Bank and are maintained in good order according to the regulations of the Bank
- Contributing to team effort by performing any other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related field and a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in systems analysis and design and the development of applications
OR
- A Master’s Degree in computer science or IT related field and three years’ relevant experience in systems analysis and design and the development of applications.
- Formal training in supervisory management
- Demonstrated ability to program using languages such as C, C++, Visual Basic, Visual Studio/.NET environment (C# or VBScript)
- Experience with scripting languages E.g. java script /python
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
o Microsoft SQL Server
o Software development life cycle
o Industry best practices around release management
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Understanding of SQL database and query best practices, including triggers, store procedures, and reporting
- Knowledge of Crystal Report Writer would be an asset

Compensation
Salary and benefits, including group life insurance, group medical insurance and pension will be in accordance with the Bank’s policy.
